About the Foundation In January 2005, The Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Association, was established. The purpose of the Foundation is to promote the study and research of law, the diffusion of legal knowledge, and the continuing legal education of lawyers. Each year, with the support of the Association and generous sponsors, the Foundation awards scholarships to exceptional law students of color. EDUCATIONThe Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization which provides minority law student scholarships that are awarded at the Foundation’s annual scholarship gala. Applications for the Scholarship Awards are accepted as soon as announced through our newsletter and social media outlets. We have the received applications for the 2020 Scholarship Awards and look forward to announcing the recipients soon.
PURPOSEThe primary purpose of the Foundation is to promote the study of law and research in the law, the diffusion of legal knowledge and the continuing legal education of lawyers, including the furnishing of funds for making scholarship to qualified and worthy persons for the study of law. MISSIONThe Foundation’s mission is to positively impact the Miami-Dade community through education, service, and scholarship.
